When we are involved in MISSION, we are fulfilling Christ's call to go into the world and feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, visit the sick and welcome strangers. The Great Commission is still our challenge today.

New Mission Team - BUMC will partner with Breezy Acres in a ministry initiative in Germantown, MD. Meeting will be held at the Parlor on February 19 at 11:30 am. Mission will take place on July 22-28, 2012. Please contact John Paduhovich for information and questions: 244-0248.
 

 
 
Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf - Jamaica
 
Bethlehem UMC team members have participated in construction projects and have offered a Vacation Bible School for the children of the deaf residents of the village. 
Members of Bethlehem also offered support by sponsoring children at the schools in Jamaica.
Bethlehem UMC is planning to take the next  mission trip to the Caribbean Center for the Deaf in Jamaica on July 7 - 14

Andy Stump - Teaching Ministry in Haiti
 

Andy is originally from York, Pa and in 1991, he met people from the Mission Water for Life and he made a commitment to work for  such Mission for one year in Haiti. Then he was called to continue to be a missionary, so he is being there all these years.
 
Andy created a mission called ASAPH - the biblical name comes from this musician/ composer to be requested by King David to lead worship.
This mission is to teach children, either churches or schools in rural areas in the town of Passe-bois-d'orme in Haiti.  
 


The teaching curriculum includes:
Daily devotions with friends & neighbors; Bible study; academic tutoring; school assembly programs; instrumental music lessons; Vacation Bible programs; English as second language. 
 
Bethlehem UMC financially supports this Mission.

Bridge of Hope
 
 
BOH is a Christian non-profit organization, whose services are designed to help on ending and preventing homelessness for single mother and their children through trained church based mentoring groups, 12-24 months of intensive holistic services and rental assistance.
 
The model is comprised of a unique three-way partnership that calls the church into action, engages MOM in setting and achieving her goals and providing professional case management services that center around Christ centered principles and professional assistance.

Bethlehem UMC has partnered with Otterbein UMC to form a mentoring group to support a single mother with a child by offering a ministry of friendship to confront the daily challenges in life. to learn more about this mission, contact Tammi Morris at 747-9675

York's Helping Hands for the Homeless
 

This mission is a non-profit organization that provides services to homeless, poor and needy people and their families of York County.
 
Private donors, Churches, civic organizations and businesses in York County are dedicated supporters of this organization. Other funds come form grants and fundraising events sponsored by or for York's Helping Hands.
 
 
BUMC has been involved with the Helping Hands outreach mission for over twenty years. Twice a year, volunteers from BUMC prepare and serve 400 hot meals and 400 lunches to those less fortunate at three different locations in downtown York.
 
Likewise, BUMC raised funds to buy and donate hats, gloves and scarfs to men, women and children on December 2011.

Mission Central
 
 
 
The Mission Central warehouse of the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church is located at 5 Pleasant View Drive, Mechanicsburg, Pa.
 
Along with 18 satellite operations called "HUB's", Mission Central processes United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) "Relief Kits" for use around the world, provides all types of needed supplies for local and national ministries, and assists many projects that are sending God's love around the world.


BUMC members and friends volunteer at Mission central the second Tuesday of each month - working on projects that are currently in progress.

Our Daily Bread
 
The OUR DAILY BREAD Soup Kitchen, located at 331 S. George Street in York, has been providing nourishment to the poor and hungry in our community since 1983.   More than 60 churches of all faiths across York County, as well as civic groups, participate by providing breakfast and lunch every weekday to over 250 folks. 
 
BUMC has partnered with OUR DAILY BREAD to help meet the immediate food needs of our less fortunate neighbors.  We have pledged to prepare 15 homemade chicken casseroles, which are served at OUR DAILY BREAD  the first Tuesday of each month. (That’s 180 chicken casseroles prepared over the course of a year that feeds lunch to approximately 3,000 people!) 
 
Each month a team of BUMC volunteers prepare the casseroles at the church while another team delivers and serves the casseroles at the soup kitchen.  If you are interested in supporting this local ministry, either as a volunteer (cooking/serving), or as a monetary donor, please contact Gloria Paduhovich (717-887-2504) or Kelli Sellers (717-577-0225).

 

 
 
Emmanuel's Closet
 
The main mission is to provide grocery assistance and free clothing to local families - Dallastown and Red Lion areas - in need.
 
The organization provides Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas bagged meals; Easter baskets for children of clients; Back to school supplies and bag packs; Christmas presents for children of clients; Blankets for each family and Additional projects as funds permitted.
 
The mission is located in the basement of the Heston Veterinary Hospital and the operation is on Saturdays from 9am to 12pm. It is supported by 7 local churches, Bethlehem is one of them.
**Donations of clothings, toys and small household are always needed and tax deductible**.

  York Rescue Mission
 
The YRM is a non-profit religious organization that has been in existence for over forty-nine years. We began with the objective to offer food, clothing, shelter and spiritual guidance for the poor and needy of York county.
 
Poverty and despair are at an all time high in our community! In 2010, we served 161,137 total meals and provided overnight shelter for 7,048 needy men, women and children. The YRM is committed to being an important part of the solution.

 
 We have three ministries: the Women's ministry; the Men's ministry and the Lighthouse Youth center ministry.
 
Each ministry has it's own unique characteristics and programs. Our goal is Service above Self and to be Christ-like; inviting, women, men and children to accept the savior whom God sent into the world.
