Rev. Roger H. Mentzer, Pastor

Roger grew up near Mechanicsburg where his father worked in the construction industry and his mother was employed as a registered nurse. He attended Cumberland Valley High School, where he was nurtured in his love for learning and sports, playing football, basketball, and baseball.  He is the oldest, with two sisters and one brother.

Roger attended Pennsylvania State University, graduating in 1975 with a B.A. in Religious Studies and a B.S. in Secondary Education, Social Studies. While there, he was a member of Penn State football cheerleading squad and enjoyed being a member of the baseball team as a walk-on.  He bleeds blue for the Nittany Lions.

He met his wife, Cathy, in their home church in Shiremanstown, PA, just before he left for Seminary at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University in Illinois.  They were married as he began his final year of seminary, and Cathy joined him in Chicago.

Roger served as Associate Pastor at Allison UM Church, Carlisle; Christ UM Church, Waynesboro; District Superintendent of the York District. They have had the privilege of serving at Bethlehem since 2001.

Cathy and Roger have two grown children, Garrett and Allison.

Roger loves to see people and churches grow in their discipleship and follow Jesus ever more faithfully.

Rev. Carl B. Rife, Associate Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Carl B. Rife, a graduate from Central High School, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Lebanon Valley College; his Master of Divinity degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio; and, his Doctor of Ministry degree from Wesley Seminary in Washington, D.C.

Since his ordination in 1966 he has served congregations in Pennsylvania and Maryland.  He has written several books C.S.S. Publishing Company.

Carl and Judy have two sons, Stephen, living and working in Japan; and Mark, living and working out of Portland, Oregon. In his spare time Carl enjoys watching sports, reading, gardening and photography (taking pictures and working with pictures on computer).
